Vatican lists new sinful behavior

General

I know this doesn’t have much to do with finance but I had to post it because it just bothers me. The hypocrisy of it all.. I discussed this with some people via e-mail and I thought I would post the e-mail I wrote. I would love to hear other peoples opinions on this.. I know I missed a lot but I do have to work after all :)

”ROME, Italy (AP) — A Vatican official has listed drugs, pollution and genetic manipulations as well as social and economic injustices as new areas of sinful behavior.”

They need to be a little more clear about their list. First, in no way do I condone drug use but lets say somebody smokes/eats some weed or eats a mushroom. Those are essentially two organisms one being a plant and another being a fungus put on this world by god. They are also not mentioned in the bible as being sinful to eat. So now because the government tells you these two natural substances are illegal and somebody happens to eat one they are committing not only a crime but also a sin. The only reason they are illegal is because the government cant control them. Also, are all the people in Amsterdam going to hell now? Marijuana isn’t illegal over there. Girotti denounced “certain violations of the fundamental rights of human nature through experiments, genetic manipulations.” He also mentioned drugs, which weaken the mind and obscure intelligence” I just love that sentence there is zero genetic manipulation or experiments done in order to use those drugs. All you would have to do is eat them straight from the ground to experience the effects. Not to mention all the medical breakthroughs that have come from marijuana. Say somebody is clinically ill and they use the marijuana to help ease the pain. Do they become sinners? So who’s going to hell? The regular pot smoker? The clinical smoker to cure pain? Or would it be the person that smokes marijuana to help with depression? I mean the drug in essence is being used to “obscure intelligence” but at the same time helping the person.

Second up on the list, Pollution. Does the Vatican have any idea how much cars and airplanes (vehicles they use every day) contribute to pollution? Hello dumb dumbs that private jet you take to all your meetings and gatherings probably causes more air pollution then you would ever know. Or what about those factories producing all your bibles (how many trees are cut down?) crosses made, little Jesus figurines so on and so on. All to supply your little gift shops around the world to produce money for your “Corporation” that’s what it is.. a corporation that is making loads of money on the product they are selling. So lets not really get into the “social and economic injustices” you speak of. You probably take more money from people then any other business out there. I would love to see the revenue charts when it comes to the catholic church. People laugh at scientologists (trust me I hate them to) for making their followers pay money in order to move up in rank but at the same time isn’t that every religion? Lets not even get into these holy wars and witch hunts that killed god knows millions of people while also destroying homes and putting more money into the pockets of the higher ups. How’s that for social injustice?

Third.. abortion. If a woman gets raped and is pregnant and doesn’t want to give birth to that baby. Is it really such a bad thing? I’m sure as hell never going to argue against it.

I just hate all this bullshit about social injustice and sinful behavior when you know the biggest contributors to these crimes are the religious corporations themselves. “A recent survey said that 60 percent of Italian Catholics do not go to confession.” Right there in the article in itself you see why these new sins are being released. It’s time for the church to build up more revenue. What better way to get more money into the church by making an updated list of sins for people to come into church to be forgiven by god. Confess your sins now before it’s to late!

I on the other hand will never follow any religion. I will live my life the best to my ability by trying to be a good person and doing good things. Isn’t that what all religion is about. If you are a good person and there is a higher power up hopefully they take notice. Isn’t that what Jesus taught his people? Live good lives and you will be rewarded. It’s all about trying to better society as a whole and not so much about what religion you follow or how stupid somebody else is because they follow a different religion and are going to hell. In the end there’s good people and there’s bad people. That’s all there is to it.. I wont waste my time on petty things.

Man this damn article got me all fired up and wasted a lot of time at work :)

Wow Nene didn’t know you were so passionate about this. I’m telling you parents you were talking smack about their boy the pope :P . In principal I agree with you that the Church has no right to decide what we can and can’t do and needs to stop being so hypocritical.

I’m afraid that this might be a controversial topic so don’t let the discussion get out of hand or I will have to moderate and modify.

    Thanks

Wait, so they supress women, molest little boys, told you that telling a lie will send you to hell, did their best to destroy all competing religions through crusades, and profess that God had a son who was born to a woman that was a virgin and this son had magical powers that he used to help people (kinda like superman) and you’re just NOW realizing how out of touch the Church is with reality?
